In a match that was hampered by weather, India crushed Nepal, winning by a margin of 10 wickets, and on Monday, India advanced to the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill displayed their formidable talents.

India used the DLS (Duckworth-Lewis-Stern technique) to successfully chase a revised target of 145 runs in 23 overs following a weather delay. With 17 balls remaining, Rohit, who scored 74, and Gill, who scored 67, showed their unflinching resolve at Pallekele.

On the other hand, Nepal found it difficult to keep up their momentum and were eliminated after 230 runs. Aasif Sheikh led Nepal in scoring with 58 runs.

Rain has consistently made the 50-over competition difficult, despite the fact that it is regarded as a warm-up for the 2018 ODI World Cup in India. Currently, organisers are debating moving the location of upcoming matches in Colombo.

After just one inning, India’s first game against Pakistan was called off. Pakistan was the first team to move on to the next round. India had amassed 17 runs in 2.1 overs of their second game when play was halted by heavy rain, forcing the pitch to be covered.

Despite the setback, the grounds crew put in a lot of effort to get the field ready for use. Returning to the pitch with grit, Rohit and Gill scored successive boundaries to reach their respective half-centuries and quickly attain the goal. In just 59 balls, Rohit scored an astounding 74 runs, which included five sixes.

Thanks to Sheikh’s fifty, Nepal, a squad that is still getting its bearings in international cricket and was only awarded ODI status in 2018, put on a commendable display. After a great start by Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel (38), they lost their footing, though. However, the players in the middle and lower orders retaliated.
