It all began innocently enough when the Vampire Diaries actress posted images of her South African safari vacation, living up to her self-described traveller persona.
The actress remarked, “I don’t often splurge on material things; I splurge on flights and travel,” in a 2018 interview with Cosmopolitan. I’ve been to Belgium, Switzerland, Thailand, Japan, and Australia. I enjoy learning about other cultures, getting to know new people, and changing up my routine.
But Dobrev had no idea that her love of a nomadic existence would strengthen her relationship with her present boyfriend, Shaun White.
Following the termination of her one-year relationship with writer-director Grant Mellon, the Degrassi actress made travel arrangements to South Africa, heeding her own advice on how to handle a breakup: “A plane ticket, a glass of tequila, and a group of girlfriends.” But this time, Dobrev substituted a new lover for her girlfriends.
Fans were quick to note that this wasn’t simply a journey for one, as Dobrev shared images. It was obvious that this was a couple’s getaway from Olympian Shaun White’s remarkably identical photographs that were being posted on a different Instagram account.
In his reflections on his love life, the three-time gold medalist remarked that the ideal match for him would be someone who could emulate his “on-the-road lifestyle.” White said, “We live in two different worlds, so that’s why it’s nice to come together and share stories from the road.”
Fans initially learned about the couple’s relationship through reputable Instagram in 2020, when they began posting strangely identical pictures from a trip to South Africa.
